Juan Benavides is an architect and filmmaker currently based in the Netherlands. He obtained a Degree in Architecture from the Universidad de Monterrey, with an exchange experience at the Universidad Mayor in Santiago, Chile. During his studies, he was awarded Athletic and Academic Merit Scholarships from UDEM, and Talent Scholarship from Grupo Garza Ponce. Since graduating, he founded FILMATICA, an architecture filmmaking studio. Between 2015 and 2018, he worked as a project leader in Mexico City-based architectural office Productora. In 2016 he obtained the Beca Jóvenes Creadores from the National Fund for Culture and The Arts (FONCA) for his research project Divided Authorship. He was awarded the 2019 Beca Arq. Marcelo Zambrano from CEMEX to study The Berlage Post-master in Architecture and Urban Design in the Netherlands.
